Some of us here are musicians. Others - like me - are guys who like music so much we tend to hammer out whatever we can even if it results in arousing the neighborhood dogs into a frenzy. I have played drums in bands, sang for bands and on a few rare occasions actually played guitar, bass, hammered dulcimer, (ahem) violin, and keys in usually improvised jams. While I really like creating new music there are some 'cover songs' I love playing and others I sing quite a bit and have always wanted to play with a band. Now I'm on the other coast and far away from the guys I used to jam with but remembering some of the good times. There are always songs to go with these times.

I'll list a few of my favorites and hope you guys chime in with some you like to play and or sing:

The Barbarian - ELP (drums)
Timothy - UFO (drums and sing)
Follow You Home - UFO (drums and sing)
Treacle People - UFO (drums and sing)
Lights Out - UFO (sing)
Phantom of the Opera - Iron Maiden (drums)
Ideas of March/Wrathchild - Iron Maiden (drums)
Prodigal Son - Iron Maiden (sing)
Runnin Free - Iron Maiden (sing)
Strange World - Iron Maiden (sing)
Beyond and Before - Yes (sing, drums)
Turn of The Century - Yes (sing)
Love Her All I Can - Kiss (drums)
She - Kiss (guitar, sing)
Do You Love Me - Kiss (drums and sing)
Lucifer Sam - Pink Floyd (guitar and sing)
Time - Pink Floyd (drums and sing)
The entire Obscured by Clouds Album (sing)
Dogs (sing)
NIB - Black Sabbath (drums and sing)
Symptom of the Universe (drums, sing 'very rarely together')
The entire Vol 4 album (sing)
Megalomania (sing)
The Writ (butch.....I mean, ahem...sing)

Yikes, I didn't think it would be nearly this long. If this thread doesn't quickly mothball perhaps I'll come back. Please feel free to add yours.

Can't play an instrument...always dreamed of learning the piano but that's not likely to happen anytime soon.:D

But there are a few songs I will sing...well croak would be a better description...along to when I play them, but only after lubricating my vocal chords with a cold beer or two.:hab:

Cover of the Rolling Stone - Dr. Hook
Windy - The Association
I Can Help - Billy Swann
You Won't Dance With Me - April Wine
Don't Get Yourself In Trouble - BTO
Hair Of The Dog - Nazareth

Not a bad list if I do say so myself.

Beer is pretty much the same catalyst that gets me to howl at the Moon. Good list. I don't believe I'm familiar with the April Wine song though.

April Wine was one of my favorites growing up, and this song was a great slow ballad to dance with your girlfriend with at parties.

I cannot play any instrument because of my dyscalculia, but I like to sing to anything. I sing in my car even when I'm alone, and I don't care if people see me and think I'm nutty. (I'm sure they've all done it too) :gig The song that I like to sing to the best is this one. I guess because it is pretty simple.

Till There Was You~The Beatles

I recently bought a Zoom H1 to record myself, the quality is pretty good!
I'm focus on my own original songs, because I don't really like my covers... It's hard to cover a song, like a lot of people I guess, I use to compare the versions, generally the original is much better!

Though I know I have to improve my voice, that's why I only do those songs,
I play guitar/harmonica and I sing on :

Here We Are In The Years (Neil Young)
Out On The Weekend (Neil Young)
You and Me (Neil Young)
War of Man (Neil Young)
Changes (Phil Ochs)
You Mother Should Know (The Beatles)
The Fool On The Hill (The Beatles)
Simple Man (Graham Nash)
One Night (Elvis Presley)
The Next Step is Love (Elvis Presley)
Baby What You Want Me To Do (Elvis Presley)
Castles Made of Sand (Jimi Hendrix), though I'm not at ease with the singing of this one.

''House of the rising sun'' is definitely my favorite song to play on my guitar.I also enjoy playing acoustic version of Eric Clapton's ''Layla'',Ricky Nelson's ''Hello Mary Lou'' and many more.

I enjoy singing very much but I'm a lousy singer,so I do it when no one's around :peek. Favorite songs to sing : ''I say a little prayer'' and ''Walk on by'' by Dionne Warwick, and Peggy Lee's ''Fever''.
