In the mid 70s I saw BBA live. In the solo parts of the songs Beck and Bogart would face each other and go at it. During one of these jams Beck broke a string and then held it up to show everyone what happened.
Bogart immediately cranked down the tuning key of his bass and removed the same string and threw it into the audience. He then turned to Beck and nodded his head and they continued the jam with each missing a string and played hotter than ever.

In the Jeff Beck Group Ron Wood played some excellent bass, especially on Beck-Ola.
It couldn't have been easy keeping up with Beck on the hotter songs.

Cliché opinion, I know, but Paul McCartney far and away gets the vote from me. Love John Entwistle and Roger Waters too, though.

Chris Hillman(The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers) ranks up there, but the Bassist I think is the most talented is Chris Squire of Yes.
