MSG Michael Schenker Group

As a UFO fan back in the early 80s and a big fan of Michael I was disappointed that Michael left UFO.

But Wild Willing and the Innocent, and Mechanix came out and UFO went onwards ( upwards is debateable )

So Michael went on and brought out this maybe forgotten classic in my book.

Also worth taken note are some of the members Cozy Powell ( a fantastic drummer ) , Gary Barden and Paul Raymond ex UFO

I can remember what sparked my interest was if I recall a plastic 45 on the front of Kerrang magazine sure it had ready to rock on it ?

Anyway the album has some cracking songs on it including mad axe man, which for me the stand out is the drums ( good ole cozy bless ya)

The re-issue 2009 the one I bought ( do own the original vinyl) also has MSG band doing some covers of UFO songs natural thing, shoot shoot, doctor doctor to name a few.

Hard to think its now 33 years ago ( released 81 ) but as a 12 year old air guitar was invented for this album .

Time to relisten guys if only for the first half a dozen tracks

Don't forget bassist Chris Glen who was with Glasgow band Tear Gas where he released 2 albums and then the Tear Gas band joined up with Alex Harvey where they called themselves The Sensational Alex Harvey Band. They were pretty popular in the UK throughout the 70's. They were a very theatrical band and their music while Hard rock also touched on progressive, jazz, blues, country, old time rock & roll...etc. Chris Glen was awesome in that band and their: drummer Ted McKenna joined MSG in 1982-1984.

I was glad I did get to see UFO with Michael Schenker around 1978/79 and it was a great show. I do love those early 80's MSG albums and it made them extra special when I realized Chris Glen (& later Ted Mckenna) were in Michael's band because I was a huge Alex Harvey fan

Love this album, saw MSG for the first time "On The Rack Tour", some great guitar playing on this, especially On And On and Looking For Love

Loved MSG's first 2 albums (I like to call their debut Armed and Ready, though some list it as just MSG... confusing, since this one's also called MSG!), but the one that really rocked for me was the awesome Assault Attack... might have to do with me being a huge Graham Bonnet fan :)
