I can't find anything about Livgren touring solo.He did play a Kansas reunion show last year. He has been working on Cantata:The Resurection Of Lazurus.

His band Proto-Kaw released an album in 2011.Proto-Kaw is actually the second version of Kansas-they reformed in 2004 and have released a couple of new albums and released some recordings from 1971-73

Kansas are a recent discovery for me, and pretty quickly entered my top five favourite bands based solely on their seventies output!

Kansas, Song For America, Leftoverture and Point Of Know Return are four of the greatest albums I have ever heard. No question about it!

I can't believe that Dust In The Wind was a finger exercise! Now, it stands as one of the best fingerpicking songs ever written. I also love that it was written in the time of Kerry Livgren's life that he was searching for the meaning of life. Listen to the lyrics!

I agree!!!!

I have that and a couple other Kansas records and I have a cassette "THE BEST OF KANSAS" (1984) and the cassette IS THE ONLY PURE ANALOG COPY OF THIS ALBUM!!

The record "The best of kansas" had all the songs digitally recorded (Disgusting)

The cassette thankfully only had 2 songs digitally remixed for the cassette AND THEY SOUNDED LIKE CRAP!! (Hardily any bass)

Carry on Wayward son
The Wall

I RECORDED OVER BOTH OF THEM.... (I just have blank tape where those 2 songs used to be (Now that I have the record those 2 songs came from, maybe sometime Ill copy them from the record to the tape sometime))

I LOVE THE BEST OF KANSAS!!!!! (1984) -- All excellent songs!!

@Dude111

I saw Kansas when I was. Junior in High School. Back then you could get tickets for about $20 and choose your own seats. I can remember skipping school to go to Cincy Riverfront to get in line so we could get good seats.

I believe this was just after Point of Know Return was released. The only thing that I truly remember from the set list is the opening song, Carry On Wayward Son.

The Proto-Kaw albums are slices of prog heaven. Kerry's solo/AD stuff rules. If you don't have it, pick up his Decade box set.

I really like the current lineup of Kansas. I saw them in July of 2016, and they took those songs to a new level. The new live album is super good. Peace and goodwill.

Kansas is one of the most commercially successful progressive rock bands of all time.

Best Album:

51V5xilsmiL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

Track List:

"Carry On Wayward Son"
"The Wall"
"What's on My Mind"
"Miracles Out of Nowhere"
"Opus Insert"
"Questions of My Childhood"
"Cheyenne Anthem"
"Magnum Opus"

Leftoverture is definitely their best album. For me, nothing else even comes close.

Currently skipping through some albums and I got a little twinkle in my eye when What's On My Mind came up. By far, my favorite 'deep' cut from the band. I use 'quotes' because I know that the song was actually released as a single, but it's one that I don't think I have ever heard one time on FM radio in 40+ years since the album was released.
