Gibson, my main electric is a 78 Les Paul Custom. It weighs a small ton but sounds incredible, my only real complaint would be fret access, but for that I also have a Flying V, an SG, and an Explorer.

One of the many reasons I've never been a fan of the Les Pauls

To me tone and playablity are everything, and I'll even sacrifice a little playablity for God-like tone. I've owned and played a lot of guitars over the years and the only guitar that comes close to the custom I now own (tone-wise) is a 64 Gibson Firebird I that I used to own (Burglurized from me many years ago, along with a 69 Silverface Twin Reverb) JMO, I love the Lesters.

Sit down or get a wide strap - problem solved.

I do both of those things, and your right - problem solved.

Gibson, the Rolls Royce of guitars.

Amen!

Fender is my favorite electric guitar brand, but I haven't played that many different types of guitars.

I've played a few Gibsons, Ibanez, and Jacksons but my Fender Telecaster just gets the job done for me. But maybe I'm biased, because its the guitar Keith Richard's uses quite frequently.

For acoustic guitars, Seagull guitars are hands down the best I've ever heard. It blows almost any other guitar out of the water. I have a left handed Seagull S-Series guitar, and its a beauty!

Wrong Question, maybe ?

Many prefer one brand of guitar over another. Professionals like David Gilmour perform with many guitar brands. They chose the instrument for different reasons. Many like a Gibson acoustic guitar but use a Fender Stratocaster when going electric. Blues men like B.B.King chose yet another style. Some of the best own hundreds of guitars in different brands and styles.

I've seen shows where guitars were changed up to 8 times or more. They chose for quality of sound, color, shape, acoustic, electric, bass, 12 string, etc.

Some like a skinny neck, it's easier for them to play. Some have large hands and prefer a thick neck. The reason one brand is liked and another is not is as complex as the guitarist.

Perhaps a list of the all time best guitarist would be more appropriate .

For the longest time my favourite was Hamer. They produced amazing, high-end superstrats yet weren't as 'obvious' a brand as Jackson, Charvel, BC Rich, Ibanez etc. However, they changed tack in the mid 90s and as much as I didn't want to concede to Ibanez's dominance of the marketplace, their RG 400/500/700/Jem range set the bar for rock guitars. The Super Wizard neck is the best I've ever played and access to the top frets is completely unhindered. Compare that to my Strat where above the 15th fret you have to wrap your hand around the board and stretch for all you're worth!
