it's being suggested that ELO got their influence from the Beatles song "I am The Walrus".
Jeff Lynne was previously a part of the 60s Pop Group "The Move" which also included Bev Bevan, Roy Wood & Keyboardist Richard Tandy.

ELO also did a cover of "Roll Over Beethoven" which was something The Beatles did during their British Invasion of 1964.

This song sounds like it came right off of Sgt Pepper.

you'd probably think I'm crazy but I was listening to early James Gang the other day and alot of their sound reminds me of the Magical Mystery Tour and White Album era Beatles, with their bass sound and that organ sound not unlike Blue Jay Way-ish.

Fine tune

This song sounds like it came right off of Sgt Pepper.

Having just listened to this song, had I no knowledge of who recorded it, I would have said ELO (or Jeff Lynne). ELO has a distinctive style, as do Boston, Aerosmith, or the Beatles.

A tune may be in the style of another group, but Z Z Top, or Pink Floyd, or Eric Clapton, or Steve Miller are unmistakable.

10cc's "I'm not in Love" fooled me when I first heard it.

Julian Lennon is the only artist that comes close and he is John Lennon's son.

I guess I missed the point you were trying to make.

Here's a bunch of songs that reminded me of the BEatles when I first heard them. Some still do.

Some of them were probably consciously trying to be Beatlesque.

Smyle-It’s gonna be alright (’72)
The singer is clearly trying to sound like John Lennon.

Fickle Pickle-Let me tell you ('71)
The Fickle Pickle album is worth searchin for if you're a Beatle fan (a bit like Klaatu)

Freudiana-Little Hans (‘90)
It's Eric Woolfson I think (of Alan Parsons Project)

Gilbert O’Sullivan-Alone again, naturally (’72)
This sounds a bit like MecCartney at his schmaltziest to me

Crowded House-In my command ('93)
Along with many jangle poppers (see also Del Amitri, Rembrandts, Michael Penn etc.) they don't stray far from the Beatles mid-60's sound, but this tune in particular sounds just like them to my ears.

Roger Glover & Friends-Love is all (’74)
Ronnie James Dio's voice is too unmistakable nowadays, but when this first came out many people appaently thought it was McCartney

Ocean Color Scene-The day we caught the train ('96)
Obvious Beatle-ish song

Argent-Hold your head up (’71)
Gerry Rafferty-Mary Skeffington (’71)
John Miles-Highfly (’76)
Nilsson-Me & my arow (’70)
When I first heard these two, they sounded like McCartney to me

The Flamin' Groovies-You tore me down ('76)
Well, they're a powerpop group. Sounding like the Beatles is what they all attempt to do

Billy Joel-Scenes from an Italian restaurant (‘77)
On some songs from the 70's; Billy Joel's voice reminds me of Lennon and McCartney at the same time.

Kincade-Dreams are ten a penny (’73)
This one I'm not sure if it's because of the overall sound or merely the fact that the start of the melody rips off "We can work it out".
