Definitely not. Even back when MTV was huge back in the 80's as a video music channel, most of the videos were pretty dumb. I enjoy some to this day more for nostalgia reasons more so than because they were such great videos.

I like to watch well done music videos. Unfortunately, there are very few that are really well done.

Wow! That's an overwhelming NO so far. :D

Nowadays I actually watch the videos after I listen to the albums! :heheh:

Exactly! Same here. lol. I watched the videos from Devil Put Dinosaurs Here after listening to the album. I totally enjoyed that video for the title track! So 90s! *drool* (we need a drool smiley here)

they did play a part in discovering new music, back when MTV was worth watching.

Exactly! That is how we generally discovered music back then.

only one I can think of is REM's Losing My Religion

Good pick. Love that video! It was the first REM song I heard thanks to the video being nominated for a Grammy or something. :heheh:

Nah, I'm from the generation before videos. For me, the music has always done the talking.

I can understand how the generation after mine might be influenced by the visual aspect. The presentation evolved to include videos.

For me, it's about the music. The visual has no impact whatsoever on a song's musical integrity.

What are videos, anyway? Radio with pictures.

Normally, I would say no to about 99% of the videos out there. However, there are probably a few that have made the song better for me, simply because I picture the video when hearing the song.

One of these is Simply Red's song, "Holding Back The Years" which IMO, is one of the best videos ever put to film.

I really appreciate good music videos though the art seems to be largely lost these days. Most videos take the song entirely too literally or are just eye lots of lights and flare. Actually crafting a nice visual accompaniment to the songs doesn't happy nearly frequently enough these days.
