^^^ I really enjoy the weather hereThe winter had some chilly, blustery, stormy days but on the whole not so bad. Never get snow in Devonport and this winter we didn't even have frost. The summers are dry with none of the extreme heat and humidity of the mainland.
Any activities planned in accordance with the nicer weather?

I don't know what Glaucoma is like, so maybe he needs a lot of coverage. He could also be trying to stop the progression of the disease. I think you eventually lose your eyesight completely.
My grandpa had glaucoma, he ended up virtually blind. You need to catch it early and start treatment which will prevent further damage to eyesight. If you have a first degree relative (mother, father, brother or sister) with glaucoma there's a higher risk of you getting it as you get older, my dad has to have regular tests since his father had it but because he was my grandfather my optician says I have the same risk factor as everybody else.
