Black Sabbath To Begin Work On New Studio Album Next Year - Blabbermouth.net

Heavy metal legends BLACK SABBATH will begin work on a new studio album in 2015, to be followed by one final tour.

BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi, who has battled cancer since 2012, recently hinted that the group's July 4 gig at London's Hyde Park could have been the band's last because the touring can be tough on him. But frontman Ozzy Osbourne now says that the group will record another CD next year.

I would be very surprised if this happened. Both Tony and Geezer have been making noises over the last six months or so that they were pretty much looking to retire. But hey! Go for it guys!

Meh. If they do, great. If not, it won't bother me.

I have been listening to Heaven & Hell's only studio album The Devil You Know lately. Aside from how sad I am that Ronnie is gone, I really would liked to have heard another studio album or two from that crew.

Dio, Iommi, Butler and Appice were godlike on that one! SOOOO much better than the somewhat reunited Sabbath was on 13

13 was decent musically but Ozzy vocals are the major drawback for me. Heaven & Hell's album was definitely better.

Well, Rolling Stone is now reporting this as gospel and not only saying they will record, but will also tour

Black Sabbath to Record New Album, Plan Final Tour | Rolling Stone

Following the global success of their most recent album 13, which debuted at Number One in the United States and several other countries, Black Sabbath have decided to record another album. Ozzy Osbourne told Metal Hammer that he hoped to begin the writing sessions with guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler in early 2015. "We're going to do one more album, and a final tour," he said.

 I'll believe it when I see it.

Hoping the new album does a bit more than what 13 did. 13 was good but at the same time felt like it was merely trying to re-hash old ideas. I'd like to see them try to at least expand a bit.

That's pretty much how I feel about everything. I wasn't super impressed with "13" and it really wasn't worth the wait. It's nice to have one more album from Sabbath but I almost would have preferred having the "What if the got back together feeling" for whatever magic they could have produced if they DID put out another album (I feel the same about Pink Floyd and their new album isn't even out yet). It kind of feels better to have that fantasy than an ultimately disappointing album just because the expectations were so high.
