I quoted you because you were (I think) defending Gene's right to say what he wants. Some of his comments were viewed by some as racist. A lot of people cry "freedom of speech" simply because they can't make their racist or sexist or homophobic remarks any more without public criticism. As far as the media outlets go, I think they work for the advertisers more than the government. Like someone once said "Just follow the money".

To which private conversations are you referring? Donald Sterling's? Talk to his mistress about that. As for Gene Simmons, is there anything about the guy that's "private"? He has (or had) a reality show for crying out loud! He's one of the biggest attention whores on the planet. Is there anything he won't do for a buck? In these days of the world wide web, TMZ, Perez Hilton and anybody with a cell phone camera filming anything that moves, let's be honest, private conversations, especially among celebrities, are pretty much a thing of the past.

Its not really any secret that I don't care for much of anything Simmons says. Most of time his mouth is running cause he thinks he can say something that in some round about way will make him money.
but there is no way I call someone a dick because I don't agree with what he says. Nor do I destroy him and his livelihood and deface him because of it.
Further freedom of speech is freedom of speech regardless if the repression is by populace or government, historically that's just an excuse used by populace so they aren't held accountable.

I take Gene for what he is a self absorbed very successful businessman, sometimes I find myself agreeing with his opinions, other times not so much.
I don't think anyone can deny he's a Diva and loves having a voice about any topic, and if you ask him a question he will give you an answer which I can respect unlike many others who waffle and avoid saying anything.

He's not somebody I really care for, but I hope he really is taking it all in stride and not hiding the hurt. We all found out last week the tragic effect that has.
