Haven't seen SRV mentioned yet:

Left us way too soon. I could really do with some new Stevie Ray Vaughan music these days.

Also, Groovy, I had to chuckle at the Keef nomination. Although I should point out that we're discussing the dead, not the undead :heheh:

Hendrix
Rhodes

Both left so much undone. Had Randy lived, the 80s would have been completely different.

I have this picture on canvas in my hall :) Good choice

John Lennon is the most talented dead rock star in my opinion (musically)

But I can relate more to Keith and Jim, they were very troubled but true rock stars none the less :grinthumb

All significant artists mentioned so far. How about Gary Thain from Keef Hartley Band and Uriah Heep, my favourite bass player of all time. He had distinctive melodic style of bass that very few have been able to emulate.

With lovers, buggers, & thieves.
Jim Morrison.

Instantly came to mind as the greatest dead rockstar of all time.

Bless their troubled souls, every one of them, but Jim Morrison to me, is the greatest deceased rock star of all time. No doubt about it.
