I belive that the critical success of "Nevermind the Bullocks" was more because of the attitude behind it rather than the music itself

Nonetheless, it's a great record. Side one just rips from start to finish. The idea these guys couldn't play well enough to make a great rock and roll record is a well worn cliche and a completely silly argument.

I agree. Too many people recycle the same arguments over it. Its fine to dislike it as punk's not everyone's cup of tea but the way some people carry on like its the worst record in existence is a bit over the top.

Gotta say.. The Moody Blues for me..

Another would be REO Speedwagon.. Just got tired of the words in the song alway's rhyming in a weird way..

And here's the weird kicker.. Thin Lizzy.. A few good hits but for the most part, nothing fancy..

I agree it can come off as too brash or whatever for some people's taste. I know a few folks who's taste otherwise lines up pretty well with mine that don't like it at all. That aside, it's also more rock and roll than about 98% of what gets discussed here.

I kinda like RUSH but so many of their tunes do have a certain sameness to them. They are a bit conceptually redundant...........

In Cleveland, it's practically a sin to like classic rock and not like Rush since we're the city that put them on the map but I don't. I think they're wildly talented musicians but their well of creativity ran dry long ago. Because of their overall musicianship however...I personally cannot say they're overrated.

I just don't like them.

Rush since about 83? Absolutely. But before that they were anything but redundant. Their themes ran the gamut from mythical prog type theme to out right party rock and most anything in between.

They were almost devoid of cock rock, so there is that.
