Oasis, like U2, seems to be a very polarizing band. People seem to either love them or hate them. I grew up listening to BritPop acts like Suede, Oasis, Blur and Pulp during my teenage years. I love 'em all! But I can understand if some people don't.

Oasis strikes me as much too derivative but I do think they had some good songs. Champagne Supernova is pretty awesome.

The Beatles are ridiculously overrated and I really like 'Cold Lake' album by Celtic Frost.
Agree. Oasis are the most overrated band ever.

The Beatles to me too are really overrated, more so than Oasis in terms of my ranking of them. Theres quite a number of bands which I just dont see what the appeal is to them, like slayer, kiss, queen and guns n roses. Slayer though is the one that gets me the most, the bandwagon come into play with them I believe.

The problem with Oasis for me is that they became the poster boys of the whole Manc set-up from the 1980s and 1990s: it does a disservice to better bands like The Smiths and Joy Division and that's what grates me about them (though obviously people themselves are to blame and not the constituent members).

I agree, the feuding brothers storyline helped with that too. I never saw the appeal, I think the Stone Roses first album is far better than anything Oasis ever did. I'd say Joy Division are still godlike to a huge amount of Manc's though.

That first opinion should be punishable by execution ;) Seriously though I never cared for it at all but I would say I like probably seven of the ten songs on it now. For me it was just too far removed from their roots (see my list above) and it was obvious that all of them bar Timothy B. Schmit were burnt out big time on coke and Don Henley, Glenn Frey and Don Felder all hated each other. I mean listen to this, this is absolutely horrific and by a country mile the worst song they ever wrote. It's meant to be a piss-take on disco music but it fails horrendously:

I love 'Disco Strangler' and its probably my favorite song on that record. I had it on a 45 (b-side to the Long Run I believe) and found that I really dug that tune. Great guitar riff and cool drums. I like it.

Super Collider is a good album. What's so wrong with Megadeth slowing it down at bit. It's still got some good tunes on it. Not as good as Youthanasia though.

Risk... um, Crush Em is cool. Give them that.

People seem to hate the album because of the stupid simplicity argument. Its an overused term simplicity.

I love the album. Lots of people expect Megadeth to somehow replicate Rust In Peace or Endgame MK II.

lol Yeah even though I dig Slayer's classic albums I think they're the most overrated band in metal period. Not necessarily in music but metal yes.

Yeah. I for one don't want to hear the same album over and over. However, there just isn't thing on Risk that was very memorable to me.

Risk is memorable for most for how bad it is. lol

For me though I'm just a very weird person and find it better than The World Needs A Hero.

Lemme see here....

I like Oasis.
I think the Beatles are overrated.
There are maybe only about 10 Rolling Stones songs I like. Everything else just exists at best.
I think Jimi Hendrix was a great guitarist and solid sing but wildly inferior lyricist and songwriter for his level of talent.
The Greatful Dead may have been the worst thing to ever happen to 60's rock
I don't see the appeal of Joy Division.
Guns N' Roses is one of my favorite bands
I think "Chinese Democracy" is a really good album (I own it on CD and vinyl)
I think "All of My Love" and "Tears in Heaven" are terrible songs.
Also, I find almost every single thing Eric Clapton has done boring at best.
I actually really like some of Miley Cyrus's songs, especially "Wrecking Ball" (and I don't really feel good about it)
Also, "Call Me Maybe"
I think Tom Waits is a better singer than Geddy Lee, Mick Jagger, John Lennon, and many others.
I think all Rush songs sound more the same than Ramones songs.
"The Final Cut" is a top 5 Pink Floyd album for me.

and that's all I've got for now but I know there are others.
