Nazareth II would be fine. Retiring a band name is totally different than retiring a band. I still think if they want to rock on.....they should :grinthumb

You are right, Magic. I wasn't being very clear in my first post.

plenty of other bands have survived and prospered very nicely with replacements for the original vocalist, and people at the time said it will never work, but it did (Genesis, Floyd, Sabbath, Deep Purple, AC/DC, Van Halen, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Alice in Chains, Styx, and they're just the ones I can think of, there's certain to be numerous others)...so why should Naz turn out any different?

Is it blasphemy to add Journey to the list? I think Arnel Pineda is doing one hell of a job, although it aint quite the same without Steve Perry. I think the arguements for and against continuing are all solid, I guess ultimately the best thing to do, is to hear the new guy first and then decide if it was a good or bad choice to continue.

I'm sure that 99.9% of Nazareth fans would prefer them to carry on if they can rather than retire

At the end of the day, that is what really counts.

To me Nazareth were never up to par after the depature of lead guitarist Manny Charleston. Manny was a huge part of their sound. I like their last few albums ok I guess . Their 80's and 90's output were not worthy of the Nazareth name IMO. Pete Agnew is the only remainIng og member. Personally I think It's time to put the Nazareth name to rest.

I agree Nazareth without mccafferty just doesn't sound right. It's like the kinks without Ray davies

^^^^^ or Queen without Freddie.

Yeah, no kidding. Paul Rogers was awesome In Bad Company and Free but Queen is a competely different animal. Not buying into that one either.

Their new album Rock 'n' Roll Telephone is the best one since Manny left, The Newz is coming close second. It was Dan's wish for Nazareth to continue with a new singer.
