Official statement from KISS

KISS
ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME STATEMENT FROM
KISS

To All Our Fans In Regards To The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame:

Out of respect, Ace and Peter's recent statements demand a quick response to you, our fans.

Our intention was to celebrate the entire history of KISS and give credit to all members including present long time present members Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer, and additionally Bruce Kulick and Eric Carr all who have made this band what it is, regardless of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame's point of view.

Although KISS has moved forward far longer without them, Ace and Peter are at the very foundation of what we have built and this would all be impossible had they not been a part of it in the beginning.

It is over 13 years since the original lineup has played together in make-up and we believe the memory of those times would not be enhanced. Contrary to claims made through the media we have never refused to play with Ace and Peter.

We have spent 40 years dedicated to building KISS without quitting or wavering as the band has moved forward with huge tours and platinum albums through different important lineups for forty years, to this day.

KISS has always been a band unlike any other. That is why we started KISS. That is why we continue KISS. Being unlike other bands also means making choices and decisions unlike other bands.

This is understandably an emotional situation where there is no way to please everyone.

To bring this to a quick end, we have decided not to play in any line-up and we will focus our attention on celebrating our induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

We are excited and are looking forward to seeing you all on the KISS 40th Anniversary worldwide tour.

^^Tempest in a teacup...really it was never going to happen anyway, the original line-up playing together for reasons already stated.

Maybe some day down the road when Gene and Paul decide to put their make-up bags away(and instruments too :) ) they might get back together for a final show and record it to DVD. That would give them time to rehearse and get the feel for playing together again.

Although it sounds like Gene and Paul want to leave the legacy where it is, money has a way of changing many peoples minds.

I wasn't going to watch the induction ceremony whether they performed or not.

Eh, you couldn't fill a thimble with all I know about Kiss & their disputes. But seems to me the right thing to do would be to do it the same way a lot of bands do it when inducted to the Hall: do some songs with the original lineup and then have the current band do some songs as well. At the very least, Ace & Peter should be given a chance to play with their own group of people for a song or two, whether the rest of Kiss joins in or not.

I'm a lifelong fan of the band and honestly, I couldn't care less if they played for the Hall of Sham ceremonies, with or without Ace and Peter. I was fortunate enough to see the reunion shows 3 times during the 90's. We have plenty of footage available from that period of KISS back in makeup. What we have now is just as much KISS as anything since 1979. The concerts are huge with the lights, the flames, the explosions, the fireworks and just the band members on stage constantly moving about and doing their thing.

The RnR Hall of Sham is inducting the band. Gene, Paul, Ace and Peter are part of that band. What I would honestly like to see is all of the living members of the band on stange together at the same time. Not performing, but graciously accepting their induction. That means everyone from the original 4 as well as Bruce, Vinnie, Eric Singer and Tommy. Have them all up their thanking the fans for years of support. Who cares about performing for the ceremony...

Just my 2 cents worth.

This is what I think happened........

KISS has a Documentary Movie coming out this summer, last year Ace & Peter were asked to participate, they wanted lots of money to do so and declined.

Payback's a bitch!

Translation; Ace Frehley & Peter Criss wanted to get paid for their time and get royalties from the Kiss documentary that they were asked to ''participate'' in...and the money whore, Gene Simmon$ wouldn't give them their fair share of the pie.

Did Gene Simmons think they were going to do it for free out of the kindness of their hearts after being jerked around for decades?

The only bitch here is Gene Simmon$. :heheh:

The majority of KISS Fans know Kiss sucks without Ace & Peter...

But don't worry, Simmons and Paul Stanley will parade around some puppets dressed up in Peter and Ace's makeup for the 40th Anniversary worldwide tour and screw the die-hard fans one more time.

No wonder why a buddy of mine said he saw Kiss in concert a couple of years ago playing to a half empty concert hall in upstate New York.

Sad and pathetic.

I saw KISS with Eric and Tommy in 2010 and it was probably one of the top 5 loudest and most energetic concerts I've ever seen. I have been to more than a dozen KISS concerts in my life and it was one of the best shows they'd ever put on. Capacity crowd. Great show. Also, it was definitely the longest KISS concert I've ever seen, going just over 2 hrs and 20 minutes. :D
