Trapped Under Ice would have been perfect

Take a look at this one:Metallica Survey This is the setlist of Metallica's first concert in 2014 chosen by fans.
And I think it's not fair ! well it's a great setlist, but they always play these songs ! Why people don't pick a new setlist? Idk, something like 'Attitude' , 'The frayed end of sanity', 'Eye of the beholder' , 'Escape', 'The Unforgiven 2' ... . There are too many great songs, this setlist is just too common I think .

Played an old classic-ride the lightening-excellent cd-they died after the black album imho

Unfortunately they all look like that. I guess I can understand it. If I was going to see a band that I like and I'm not a diehard fan of, I'd be requesting the songs i know not the rarely played deepcuts. But as a fan who follows every setlists. It blows. At least we get a new song. They should try the setlist request at a 4 day Fillmore stay. Now that'd be fun

Because a fair few of those fans have no variety. lol I wish they would play some less typical songs on their set too. Only so many times one can tolerate Nothing Else Matters, One etc.

My ass they do, on the 4th day or so, Frayed Ends made it on.

But yeah, most are garbage. It's because 90% of the people who go to these shows are casual listeners who come to hear just those songs. I'm not even knocking it, it's just the reality of being the biggest Metal band in the world.

A couple of things:

1) Garbage? I don't think anything on that list is garbage. There are a couple that I'd rather not hear, but I don't think any are 'garbage'.

2) Define 'casual listener'? Are you saying that you think that anyone who isn't listening to the last 2 tracks of every album on a daily basis is only 'casual' and they aren't "real fans"?

3) there is a reason that bands play what are considered to be their "biggest songs", that's because they receive votes on websites like this, receive email, fan mail, intermix with fans before and after shows, hear call-ins when doing TV and radio interviews, see request lists from radio stations as to what people are asking for, etc etc. They play what the fans ask for.

4) you cant please everyone all of the time. Every band plays what the majority of their concert-going fans are requesting. Speaking of realities, that's the reality of being a successful band on tour.

But yeah do play Frayed Ends of Sanity please. Would be nice if they did pull that one out. Hopefully fans voted for that one. Garbage isn't the word I'd use. Overplayed absolutely I think some variety would be good to have for a change in their sets.
