Survivor vs. Journey

I think Survivor is as legit of a band as any and is valid in a poll like this. I mean seriously they have one of the best anthems ever in "Eye Of The Tiger" but I like plenty of songs from them and can see them in the same category except for two things. Journey definitely has the bigger legacy and more depth to their catalog. The part about the depth is kind of taken away that most will vote Journey solely on the Steve Perry years which don't have as much depth. Voting on Journey's whole career though I'd vote for them. I love the debut album with Greg Rolie as well as the Eclipse album with Arnel. In some ways I like those better. Anyway, their are plenty of people who would vote another AOR band ahead of Journey regardless of the legacy. My vote goes to Journey not because of their rep but because their are more layers to their career to like and likely more surprises than any particular Survivor album would have. I'm sure vocally and musicianship wise someone could prefer Survivor though.

In truth, I'd probably vote for anyone over Survivor. It may be an anthem, but Eye Of The Tiger is, and always has been, a song I've never liked. Fair or not, that song taints my whole view of the band.

I see what people mean though, Journey is a much more known band than Survivor as far as song BEYOND "Eye Of The Tiger" goes. wich is why I voted for survivor myself. I predicted Journey would take the lead.

Not sure about this one, neither band 'lights my fire'...I do actually like "Eye of the Tiger" it was on my pre-game mixtape before taking the field.

To give Survivor a true chance I'd have to go through their discog...and I can't bring myself to do that.

So Journey it is.

Journey pretty easily for me. I never was a big fan of Survivor, I saw them once back in the early 80s at a Jam with REO Speedwagon, Kansas & Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Survivor were pretty boring & forgettable to me.

Journey without a doubt.

As much as I like Survivor, they don't measure up to Journey from 1978-1987. This is an interesting poll because I never really thought about how the two bands kind of paralleled each other (at least to some extent) during the 80's.

They did paralle each other. Similar styles in voice and music style.
In fact... there is a free music streaming site I know that has "Eye Of Tiger" listed under "Jounrey's Greatest Hits"
