Hi guys
I've a query which I'm sure you lot on here can help me with. I'm becoming a huge fan of the Dio-era Rainbow, I already have Rising, LLRAR and the On Stage live album all on lovely vinyl.
But I've been doing some nerdy fact-finding, as I often do with new bands, and discovered that on the tours supporting both these albums, not many songs off them were actually played. Stargazer, Lady Starstruck, Kill the King and Long Live... all got played, but not many others, all, it seems, in favor of material from the first album, some blues jamming and even a Deep Purple oldie!
Not that I think that's the wrong way to go about it, Rainbow did indeed put on a killer show whatever the material, but I just think its a shame that Rising and LLRAR hardly got any live exposure, from the very band that made them!
Does anyone else agree with me? And can anyone offer an explanation as to why this was, or am I missing something here, and did they actually play plenty of those songs on the tours at all?
Ta muchly!
