Just got my copy. Loving it

I was thinking about getting a copy for myself?. I saw this version of the band play live at the Hammersmith Odeon in London in 1995 when Blackmore & Co played 2 nights the Friday & Saturday night i went on the Saturday night which according to most was the worse night of the two nights?.

On the Friday night Blackmore apparently played a great set plus also he had his guitar stolen off the stage!!. After playing a guitar solo he put the guitar down only for it to be stolen under his nose by some guy who apparently ran out of the venue and the street with it but who felt bad about doing it so he returned to the venue and gave the guitar back to Ritchie!!!. :wank:

As much as I love Deep Purple and they have been a top three choice for me for many years. I think it was a mixed blessing when Ritchie left because I can't imagine my collection without any Rainbow. The first four studio albums I believe to be a must have, I like the later gear too but those earlier ones are dynamite.

Can't go wrong when Ritchie Blackmore, Ronnie James Dio, and Cozy Powell were all in one band then of course Don Airy, Joe Lynn Turner, and Roger Glover later on. Never cared for Graham Bonnet's vocals though weather it be in Alcatrazz or Rainbow. All about their first three albums along with the Turner era for me.

^ Graham's vocals are what I like about him, whether he really meshed with the styles of Blackmore, Schenker, Malmsteen, etc. is another story.

It's his songwriting that isn't too good.

'Rising' is one of my all time favourite albums (not to mention one of my all time favourite covers!). I've always believed Blackmore, for all his cleverness, missed a trick. That band had put together a sound that was pretty unique - I would call it something like Prog/Metal. I have always thought they could have progressed in the Floyd/Zeppelin mode and become huge. But Ritchie decided to discard it and chase hit singles. This link from 'Classic Rock' gives a fascinating insight to the 'Rising' era of the band.
