I have a couple.

Jungleland is one. When the Big Man hits those first couple notes of his solo, it gives me a lump, because he's gone now.

It doesn't matter what I'm doing. When that solo starts, I just sit back and just listen. To me, it's a perfect piece of music.

Also, anything from Journey ~ Escape always takes back to my junior year in high school. Had a job stocking shelves, had a steady girl, had my first car. A good time in my life.

This one is very, very new. Thanks to Soot, I am now an official hardcore Shinedown fan. In the 2012 Project thread, Soot posted the title cut, Amaryllis, and also laid in a runner up, Through The Ghost.

I immediately liked Amaryllis, but thought Through The Ghost was ok, nothing more.

Now? I hear Through The Ghost and it actually stirs me up, down inside.

That song strikes a nerve, and I don't even know why!!!

Ah, the power of song.

Deep Purple - Child in Time

There must be something about 10 minute songs, I also put July Morning and Parents on the same level as Child In Time. All 3 have that something that hit me inside.

Any katatonia song is like killing myself slowly for me too.

Danny's Song by Loggins and Messina. It's a normal love song. The lyrics aren't even that deep, but it has insane sentimental value to me. My dad used to play and sing that song. I would sing along with him. We did that regularly, just about every day. Love that song, but it's mostly for that reason. I will never forget it that's for sure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FDcTyyXQb8

Many songs make me take pause. As far as 'emotional' goes there are many that make me happy and many that put a lump in my throat. There are many that put me into an introspective mood or a magnanimous one and some that get me angry.

Top of my head:

Say Hey
Mercy, Mercy, Mercy!
Teenage Jail
Killing in the Name
Angel from Montgomery
I will Remember You
Nothing Compares 2 U
The Ballad of Curtis Loew
Kibbee

Also, pick any 10 from Dylan
