Don McLean is one of America's most enduring singer-songwriters and is forever associated with his classic hits "American Pie" and "Vincent (Starry Starry Night)". Since first hitting the charts in 1971, Don has amassed over 40 gold and platinum records world-wide and, in 2004, was inducted into the Songwriters' Hall of Fame.

I remember my dad would put on Don McLean when I was little and to this date I remember all the lyrics to American Pie just from singing it in the car. I also love "Vincent", "Left for dead on the road of love", "Castles in the Air", "If we try", "Winterwood", wonderful baby, etc. He's an underrated musician, one of my all time favourites. Recently I've downloaded his discography and I'm trying to get acquainted with all his songs.

I only have one of his albums, American Pie. First time I heard Don was in art class, the only benefit of taking that class was the teacher played rock/folk music for the full hour usually.

I will pick this one up on new vinyl eventually, I saw a copy last week at London Drugs.

I, also, only have the American Pie album. I really wasn't expecting much when I bought it, but was really surprised at the quality of the songwriting and music through the whole recording. There's not a bum track in the bunch.

I keep telling myself to find some more of his releases, but all I ever run across are greatest hits collections. Most of them have a number of songs from American Pie.
