These ere old Christmas tunes I used to listen to when I was a kid. (back in the early 60's) "Are My Ears On Straight" and "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" were A and B sides of an old 78 rpm single play record by Gayla Peevey. Both are great songs. The video of the Victrola isn't mine, just something I found on U-tube. I do have a couple working Victrolas though. toolmanmike

OH GOD YES! I don't see what is such a big deal with that movie, yet some many kids these day practically worship it.

Aw come-on! Listen to the words and remember that it was 1960 when my mom bought the record. It was fun when I was 5 and I enjoy it now. I will admit they are both kinda' goofy. Things were different back then. Play it for your kids. They might like it. The "Favorite Christmas Movie" post got me thinking. I wondered if anybody else out there knew these songs. It's a nostalgia thing! toolman

I honestly don't remember either of those songs Toolman, but at least they are "Traditional" and not rock 'n roll versions, those are off my playlist permanently.

For me Burl Ives Rudoph the Red Nosed Reindeer has a similar effect, takes me right back to my childhood.

Those songs are cute, and I can see where they would be nostalgic for you. :)

I love watching the old "Frosty the Snowman" , "Santa Clause is Coming to Town", and "Rudolf, the Red Nosed Reindeer" videos, for the same reason, it reminds me of the innocence of childhoold. The videos are a bit cheesy but they have a child-like simplicity to them.
