The most powerful live concert I saw in person had to be Beck, Bogert and Appice at the San Berdardino Swing Auditorium.
From beginning to end they were hot and they were loud and they were all in the same pocket.
Beck and Bogert seemed to be constantly dueling with each other and with a monster drum kit Appice could (and did) jump in any time he wanted.
To make things hotter, Jimmy Hall from Wet Willie came out and played harp on a long jam.
Wet Willie had already fired up the crowd before BBA took the stage.

I saw Iron Maiden on their Maiden England 2012 Tour in Wheatland, CA (near Sacramento) in early August.

It may have been the best show I've ever seen in my 35 years of going to concerts.

30+ years into the game and Maiden's live peformances are as legendary as they ever were. I was just blown away at how good they still are.

Dickinson is amazing. His vocals are as strong, clear and commanding as I remember them being on any of the other occassions that I've seen Maiden. He sounds better than alot of guys half his age.

To me a 'powerful' live performance is defined by the emotional impact it has on me

With that said, I think one of the most "powerful" and MOST IMPORTANT performances ever came from The Who in "The Concert for NY" This was shortly after the 9/11 World Trade Center disaster.

The Who blew everyone away that night. Watch the joy on the faces of the first responders, those people lost family and friends that day. For 20 something minutes The Who let them and all of us escape into Rock and Roll Heaven.

The Who perform "Who Are You", "Baba O'Riley", "Behind Blue Eyes" and "Won't Get Fooled Again"
