So we don't clog up the original thread with comments about people's selections, I've started this thread.

Maybe this suits what you might like ................. Take Me Back - Noiseworks

Nice pick, Sunny. I've never heard of this band before but I dig the song. They kind of remind me of Ice House...

^^^ I don't know if you remember Billy Joel's minor hit from the 90's but this definetely has a gosphel element to it.

Good idea to do an offshoot discussion thread Aero! :cheers2 I do have an own that album and that's a great song! I may have to open a thread to explore as many of these type songs as possible as I think Gospel adds a great touch to things! :)

I'm gonna take another shot here since last time you already owned my recommendation. :****: So, you said you wanted a pop rock song but also a ballad along with it being over 5 minutes long with the song centered around a piano. Tall order, but here is what I have for you. Hopefully, you haven't heard it before. Let me know what you think.

I don't own this one! :D I remember listening to Marc Almond in the thread for them and liking it upon listening. It's been a while so I don't know without checking if I'm revisiting this song but I definitely like it. I've been replaying it multiple times to get a good feel for it. The vocals sound to me like a softer, almost whispering Bob Seger. As much as I like the vocal quality I think it picks up in mood when the horns are added over the piano melody. It's nicely paced and very pleasant sounding. Luckily the group has a hits collection (the only album under 50 bucks it seems :omg:) on Amazon and this song's included. I have it in my cart for a future purchase! :cheers2

Glad to hear you liked it. I'd definitely get the Greatest Hits collection as it has most of their best early work on there. And if you like that, I'd try picking up "Other People's Rooms" if it ever comes down in price. I bought my import for $20 and now they're over $100 so I'm guessing the album is back in moratorium like the rest as I can't even find it on iTunes.

Didn't the lead singer join INXS after Michael Hutchence's death?

Yep Noiseworks' Jon Stevens was in INXS for a time. I used to like Noiseworks in their day.

Jon is actually a Kiwi and had a couple of pop like solo hits here in the 70s then went to Aussie, and think he is an Australian citizen now.

He is in another rock kind of band currently. One of my Aussie FB friends was going to see him again in the weekend but can't recall the name of them - apparently a really nice dude as well :grinthumb
