I got into the Floyd via The Wall when I was 18. I heard a little bit of Mother when i was 14, but it was too dark and scary for me then. When I did get into The Wall I loved Nobody's Home (my emo phase - looking back!). Loved Meddle and Dark Side then this girl lent me a TDK D90 copy of Piper, which was in bad shape, but by the time I got to the middle section of Astronomy Domine I couldn't believe it. I was absolutely amazed! All of a sudden I was lost in icy, interstellar caverns of wonderness. Never been so amazed by musical sounds! Flaming was my favourite for a while - the lyrics and sounds so inventive and playful.
If I have to pick a favourite now it would be Arnold Layne - they've done better, but no one else has been able to make tranvestism sound so uplifting!
