The five major bands/artists I mentioned have been around for about a combined 230 years, and still not made it!! The whole thing just seems so incredibly arbitary, which is why it has so little credibility. I'm wondering by what method of calculation Public Enemy get inducted, but Dire Straits, who sold 150 million records (even though they only ever released 6 albums) don't? Kiss aren't in either, I don't like Kiss, but that's not the point, they have unarguably been one of the biggest rock bands on the planet for the past 4 decades.

I have to agree. The whole thing just reeks of politics and goes against the whole nature of Rock N Roll in general. I think it would be pretty cool if more folks pulled an Axl and started snubbing those hacks. Just my .02.

I may be way off base here but I have a theory on this.
The "Powers that be" save out some of the Big name Groups/Artists for future inductions to have something to fall back on(Show). I know it sounds 1/2 ass but thats the way I see it.
Rush&alot of other bands probly don't give 2 shits about being in there,Just another Award. It's more for the fans.
Living 50mi away from the place I only set foot in there once,Was alright but I didn't see what the big deal was,Ya see the same thing more or less if ya go to any Hard Rock Cafe.

Why, oh why, do I always open these threads?

Rush & Heart, groovy. Finally.

I love Albert King, but he isn't Rock and Roll.

Who needs Alice Cooper, when we've got Public Enemy & Donna Summer?

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.......

Indeed, though half the people already in the HoF aren't rock 'n roll either. I'm pretty sure Grandmaster Flash and Funkadelic are in there, I personally think if you're going to call it the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame you should probably stick to people who sang actual rock 'n roll music, or you should call it something else. Disco acts like Donna Summer and late 70's disco almost totally wiped out rock n roll, if punk hadn't come along we'd all still be wearing polyester shirts with pointy collars and a fake hairy chest.

The hall of fame is a joke like the grammy's or getting knighted or any shit like that. Makes for a good People magazine cover but has everything to do with celebrity and nothing to do with music. Besides, any rock honor that includes Donna Summer and excludes Deep Purple isn't worth the toilet paper it's printed on.

Nice to see both RUSH and Heart get some well deserved recognition, but I honestly don't care about the HOF anymore.
