I Think that Eddie definitely deserves this title. Although I don't think that Brian May should've made it that far in this tournament. Brian May is a good guitar player with a great tone but he isn't even close to being in the same league as players such as Hendrix, Eddie, Iommi and Page. Brian May made it that far because the links to the polls were posted to Queens official Facebook page which has over 16 million likes. Anyway, congratulations to my favorite guitar player for winning this tournament.

The whole true punk community is against shit like that and you seemed to be so too. Plus your signature being of Eyehategod, you seem like a Punk to me. So thats why the remark.

I'm aware music is entirely subjective, but I have to say this:

There is absolutely no way on Earth that Brian May is the second best guitarist of all time. The notion of such is an insult to rock music and a massive disservice to Page, Iommi, Hackett, Howe, Clapton, Hendrix, Walsh, SRV, etc. As for Hendrix not being number 1, I'm glad to see that. Sure, he did revolutionise guitar-playing, however I don't think he's the best ever. As for Clapton, his position should be about 25 higher!

I'm a huge Queen fan, but even i don't think Brian is the 2nd best ever. That said, Eddie is not even close to be being the best. Jimmy Page, SRV, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, the list goes on and on. People are shocked that Brians #2 but nobody is that shocked that EVH is #1?

On topic: these lists are always subjective and never to be taken seriously given everyone has different tastes. Blues...flash and speed...classical...so on and so forth.

I always go back to what Gene Simmons said about these fretboard wizards who can play with lightning dexterity. He said it sounds like an angry bee buzzing around your head.

Where are Rory Gallagher and Mark Knopfler? I'd take both of them easily over EVH.

The thing about EVH is, while he's a great guitarist, he hasn't grown much 30 years.

He's instantly recognizable. I remember being in basic training, and hearing 'Beat It' for the first time.

Without even taking a poll, I know there are others here at CRF who sat up and said "Hey! That's Eddie!" when the lead solo started.

Can I get an Amen?

I'm not knocking the guy, believe me. Just trying to make a point. His style stays the same. His sound stays the same.

All I'm saying is,as good as he is, other than plastering keyboards all over the place on 1984, he hasn't shown much in the way of versatility.
