I worked their show back in '85 during the Steel Wheels tour.

The Steel Wheels tour did not begin until 1989 though. Their previous North American tour was in 1982.

The Animals - for three reasons:

1. With the constant changes in lineup, you never know what you're going to get - and without a violin player, they can't perform two of the tunes that I most like to hear in concert, "When I Was Young" and "Sky Pilot".

2. Eric Burdon's voice has declined over the years.

3. I've seen them five times already.

All of them. I went to countless concerts in the 70's. I guess the prices then spoiled me. The costs of attending a concert now just isn't worth it to me. I really would have liked to have seen Joe Bonamassa in Charlotte NC last month. Just couldn't bring myself to drive 60 miles, pay for parking, and the $60+ bucks (with tax and everything) for great seats. If I were to go to another, it will have to be premium seats. But I doubt I will attend another.

There are not too many classic rock bands that can keep pace with their former days. I think Steve Winwood is playing here soon. He can pull it off as a solo artist, but it's never going to be the same as Traffic or Blind Faith. Those days are gone, except their recordings. These old guys coming back for reunions may still play okay, but it's hard to regain the energy of their youth.

I think this may depend solely on the band and the people in the band, I'll use Social Distortion as an example, I missed their show when they came through, but thats neither here nor there... SD plays with as much energy today as they did in the early 80s... Mike Ness is still a gigantic ball of pure energy, my friend who did go to the show(and surprisingly remembers this one) said he had the same stage precense and energy, he played better, it wasn't the same naive youthful energy, but just different energy, not worse but geared toward something else.... I'll agree there are bands that have lost their youthful energy, just like some adults lose that feeling of being young....but its not all of them

and a show I would not like to see

REO Speedwagon, well, I would see them, but i would not go very far out of my way, they seem to have softened and gotten a bit too "hit" oriented over the years
