Re: Any King Crimson Fans in the House?

Recently took delivery of the 3 remastered & expanded editions of 'In the Court of the Crimson King', 'Lizard' & 'Red'.

Steve Wilson from Porcupine Tree remastered them. They also come with bonus discs with video and 5.1 mixes

worthy additions to the collection

Re: Any King Crimson Fans in the House?

I love all eras of King Crimson. Favorites are Court, Red(favorite), Larks Tongue, Discipline and three of a perfect pair. However, they are all good except a live album or two. I also love Fripps other projects -Fripp & Eno,The League of Gentlemen and league of crafty guitarists,Giles, Giles and Fripp, soundscapes,

I'm not a freak over them but I do like them.Of course I love the whole 'Court of the Crimson King' album but I also liked Thrak a lot. I also enjoy the 'USA' live album.
Although Bruford is a great drummer I say that the sound of Michael Giles drums on "21st Century Schizoid Man" can not be beaten.I love a lot of different versions of that song & whether it's April Wine,Greg Lake,Talas, or Voivod(I won't even mention the piece of crap version Ozzy did!) nothing comes close to Giles sound

Re: Any King Crimson Fans in the House?

I remember buying April Wine's "Harder Faster" and we all kind of looked at each other when 21st Century Schizoid Man was playing. Although the so called "Experts" roasted AW's version, I thought it was good, not quite at the level of the original but decent. Besides I'm a big April Wine fan myself.:D

I'm not familiar with Michael Giles Bucky, what other bands/albums was he a part of?

Re: Any King Crimson Fans in the House?

The first album is a monumental classic. 40 years old!! I first heard it twenty years after it`s debut and it blew my mind away, to use a trite expression. The songwriting, the improvisations , the woodwinds and the expressive voice of Greg Lake made for an impressive package.
Now I`ll be seeking out the remastered 40th year edition, `groan" So many good things come out for the holidays. Some of you here may have to testify at my bankruptcy hearing.
And `Red' is such a kiler album as well.

^^One thing about KC is the ever changing style from album to album...Poseidon is similar to the debut, but otherwise they are hard to pin down.

I can't wait till you get to "Larks Tongue in Aspic" Sal...:D

It is useful indeed. Many people consider "Red" their most accessible album, between the numerous line-up changes and Robert Fripps never ending musical journey you never really know what to expect when you play one of their albums.

I have everything up to Thrak...but I like the earlier works the best.

Re: Any King Crimson Fans in the House?

You fellows have made it ever so clear to me now that I absolutely, positively must add at least a couple more King Crimson albums to the two that I already have on my shelves. I'm thinking of picking up "Larks' Tongues in Aspic" and "Lizard" next.
