By the way, why in the hell is Metal Sludge interviewing cushy white boy, pop artist John Waite in the first place?

It really does though...one of those moments where you wished someone you liked didn't say what they said.

Kinda hard to defend them after stuff like that happens. :heheh:

I live in Florida but do not like baking in the sun. Because of this I am super white. I never knew that is why I like Journey so much. I thought it was the kick ass tunes and Neal Schon's guitar work. Glad to have this sorted. John Waite can shove one of his scarfs up his ass.

(a) Steve Perry has said time and time again that his key vocal influence was Sam Cooke. Perry may not be in the current Journey roster but his mark on the band's sound and the soul origins of that sound are obvious.

(b) Neal Schon began his career in Santana!

(c) They utilise and perhaps even invented the use of 'barber shop' Motown harmonies in a rock context

(d) Their current lead singer was born and bred in Manila!

(e) Journey began life as a Jazz band: Music of African American origin

(f) I don't think I've heard a whiter sounding artist than John Waite!!

Jon Wait calling someone's music 'too white'? Someone call the irony police. I mean do these guys that try to fake soulful singing but do so in a profoundly whitebread way really think they are fooling anyone?

For the record, Journey with Steve Perry are pretty lame ass for the most part (their first album sans Perry actually kicks major ass though) but at least they have Neil Schon. Wait is just utter pop drool from what I've heard.
