I love the album "Reign in blood" and also "God hates us all" (because it's a particular album).
But I really don't know how people were living in year 1986 ! Most of people believe that "Master of Puppets" album by Metallica and "Reign in Blood" by Slayer, Are the best albums in Heavy Metal history . You know : One year with two legendary albums ! I wish I was living in 80s !

3 legendary albums including Peace Sells. 1986 had some awesome metal albums. I am proud to have been born in 1986 because of such albums as this, Puppets and Reign in Blood.

Yea just read that. No slayer when there are only two original members. Saw them with Holt on guitar and it was killer, but lets be realistic. Two main forces behind the band arent with them. One because of health reasons and the other because Kerry King is a douchebag.

Yeah seems Kerry King is a driving force behind this from what I read.

Eh, i consider him the band leader, but the driving forces for me were Jeff and Dave. With out Dave Slayer was pretty average. Jeff penned a lot of their classics. Slayer IMO hasnt really been that amazing since Seasons when it comes to actual material. They still put on a great live show, but material wise the last great album was Seasons. Christ Illusion had some good tunes, but I think Dave helped elevate that album.

I meant the driving force behind Lombardo's departure.

Where my heart is
Slayer reached out to me where Metallica just couldn't. I've seen Slayer slay the stage (how corny) 4 times and am ready to see them if they come to any Midwest shit hole again. One of those 4 times their sound was all over the place caused by technical difficulties out of their control and they still didn't let it get in their way like the bands before them that pissed and moaned about it.

Album art alone can appeal an eye enough to buy it and give it a listen.

Whether they are more speed or thrash, better/comparable to Metallica - when it comes down to it, it's the music Slayer created that paved and expanded the genre along with many great bands that came after that clearly have Slayer influences in their music.

They also have arguably still in my opinion remained one of the best bands of their genre to this day.

Slayer despite me thinking are over rated, certainly have got a unique quality about them in their early albums up to Seasons. If anything its radio playing the same shit and fanboys that cause them to be a little bit over rated. There is more to Slayer than Angel of Death and Raining Blood ffs. They do have other good songs in their discography. I would say albums such as Show No Mercy, Hell Awaits and the Haunting the Chapel EP have some gems on there as well that go a bit more unnoticed.
