OK KISS fans, as someone who likes a lot of their stuff that can be found on 'Best of' albums, which two studio albums do you recommend me starting with and which live album?

Best live album:

Kiss - Alive! (1975)

Best studio albums: Hrmm, I'd have to say that for a casual fan that is either just getting interested in the band, or is only vaguely familiar with their work, I'd cut their best studio work into two categories:

Classic KISS (giving you 3):

Self-Titled Debut (1974), Dressed to Kill (1975) and Destroyer (1976)

The other category being everything "After Classic KISS"

Creatures of the Night (1982) and Lick It Up (1983)

Seriously, start with Kiss Alive! If that masterpiece doesn't knock you on your ass, nothing will. A bonafide classic.

Got it ('preview copy')

So far, so good. I wasn't sure what to expect when I saw (2012 Remix) on all of the songs. I only noticed one minor change on Detroit Rock City, but through the first three tracks, it's good. Also, they stayed true to the original with the diner and car scene at the beginning of DRC and the car crash at the end, that leads directly into King of the Nighttime World ... as opposed to the "single" versions that we've heard on some compilation albums.

Thumbs up to Kiss for staying true to the original so far. In the next couple of days, I'll try and compare the two side by side, track by track and see what the differences are and how much better (if at all) the Resurrected version is.

I know I will buy the hard copy (not sure if CD or vinyl) but the d/l has been for sale on itunes for a couple of weeks now so I bought the d/l as soon as I seen it. I don't know how your cd is but on the D/L they have the original demo version of Sweet Pain in the spot where it is on the album(after Flaming Youth) & the version which had been on the original released album is listed as the extra bonus track. Anyway,I love the remix album but I definitely understand why they ditched that original solo on Sweet Pain.

I've been really looking forward to the Dale Sherman book 'Kiss Faq' & Amazon has it down for a September release but yesterday I walked into a Barnes & Noble & there it was right on the shelf so I bought it. It looks to be an interesting read with a lot of facts. I really find the Wicked Lester history interesting even though there wasn't a lot to it & it looks like there is more info in this book so I look forward to it.

That's what I'm thinking LG!!!:cheers2

When it comes to classic 60's-80's albums the vinyl simply sounds better in almost every case. It's not that much more than the CD, the online shop I will order mine from Destroyer is $25.00 which is reasonable.
