I still wonder what the **** drugs Lars was on when he thought turning the snare off was a good idea. Even garage bands do not have that shitty echo sound in their drums. lol
I wonder what the **** drugs Morbid Angel were on to think a return album with retarded electronic elements mixed with dance techno blast beats was going to do anything but make fans vomit. lol

st ANGER is ok (up to a point). :woot:

Ok the drums sound like biscuit tins and Kirk is missing BUT you get a "nice" album cover PLUS all the numbers are thrash numbers :grinthumb and it's well recorded by Bob Rock so all in all it ain't a bad album.

Na i'm not a friend of Lars.

The only good songs for me on St Anger is Frantic and Sweet Amber. Songs like Purify, Some Kind of Monster, St Anger itself are atrocious piles of mess. The no solos is an absolute insult to Kirk Hammett.
Eugh this album is repulsive just thinking about it. Thrash numbers? This sounds like a trendy attempt at nu metal. They were not doing anything innovative like they made out in the film, it sounded like they attempted to follow a trend. As for Bob Rock I really hope bands I love stay the **** away from him.

But having said that nothing St Anger did was of the same musical disaster that Morbid Angel would produce last year after an 8 year gap since Heretic album. Fans such as myself were so excited for a new album only for it to be the St Anger of death metal. From really badly done industrial and electronic songs to just very dull and simplistic material. Even the better songs on the album suffered from very ordinary production and it is the most disappointing album I have ever listened to.

Lulu is probably far worse as an album as well. Unlike St Anger, this album had no songs of any redeemable quality. Metallica did have some decent riffs but repetition was the huge problem. It was a good idea in theory but put into practice it was a complete backfire. I found it funny how surprised Lars was at the backlash. Forgive people for not liking boring, repeating song patterns right through 2 discs.
Lou Reed's drunken vocals were not good at all to put it mildly, it was not even close to the quality of some of his early albums like Transformer and Berlin or even with The Velvet Underground. Bad ingredients and bad mixing = one hell of a messed up kitchen. :D

The last track on cd 2 of LULU is timed at something like 16 or 17 minutes (at a rough guess?) and starts to 'wind down' at about 11 or 12 minutes but it seems to take forever to get to the end of this track by which time you just want the whole cd to end!!. :wa

Junior Dad was ridiculously over the top in length. lol
Winding down for those minutes did not keep me wanting to pay attention to it. If they maybe had divided it into 2 parts like a progressive song then I dunno it could have worked.

To add to my St Anger post, more power to you if you enjoy that album. :)

Ill be adding Demolition by Judas Priest to my list. Absolutely awful solos, awful production on the songs. This is the only JP album I can now say I actually really can't stand. I didn't mind this on first listen but this really just wore off. The little things about is annoy me like the robotic sounding solos.

St. Anger of course. HUGE fan of Metallica too. Look at their setlists when they perform btw. They NEVER play anything from St. Anger.
