Peter Frampton has slammed a woman who was texting while driving after she crashed into him and caused an injury to his back.

The guitarist believes he’s suffering from whiplash following the incident in Southern California.

Frampton last night tweeted: “Texting woman driver just ran into back of me while I was stationary in traffic 101 freeway. Can u say whiplash? People put the phones down!”

He later added: “Back and neck not good. Going to ER after my flight.”

He’s about to kick off a US tour starting on Friday in Minnesota, but it’s not known whether his injury will affect any of the six dates.

The Humble Pie axeman was reunited with one of his favourite guitars earlier this year, after it was lost in a plane crash in 1980. The black Gibson Les Paul, featured on the cover of his 1976 album Frampton Comes Alive, was located in the Caribbean and returned to its owner in January. He said at the time: “It’s got to go on the road – it’s not something I’m going to hide in the closet.”

I say we need better traffic laws as both a deterrent and punishment. None of this citation crap. Misdemeanor charges if driving while texting or on the phone. The chances are slim that you are pulled over for texting, and even if you are its just a waste of time and some money, maybe an increase on insurance, which teens dont care about. Criminal charges, like willfull endangerment or involuntary battery (when you hit a car on accident but cause damage). Idk, im not a cop or a lawyer, but most people I know talk on the phone or text while driving unless someone in the car asks them not to, or they see a cop. Its ridiculous, but at least in this case Peter didnt get hurt all that bad, if he didn t go to the emergency room and was able to tweet a slam just fine.

We have laws to stop this happening here the "Distracted Driver" bylaw, covers a lot more than blabbing on your cell phone but I still see lots of idiots breaking the law and yesterday some crazed housewife almost piled into me as she was screeching on her phone...:wtf:

I hope Peter is okay and able to perform his shows, back and neck injuries can linger for years afterward.

I hate cell phones, texting, and tweeting. Get well soon, Peter.

First of all, Get Well Soon Peter. As for the texting and tweeting, I just don't get it. Outside of the health and well being of your loved ones, what's so darned important that you can't wait until you get home to talk to a friend or return a message?

Found out today that his daughter, Mia, is starring in Paranormal Activity 4 film coming out in October. Small world.
