I really liked the first couple albums but after that something changed. To me it seemed like they have turned down the volume knob a few notches, but the first 2 efforts are classic.

"Spiritual Machines" has been one album that I have been listening to like crazy lately. It melds darkness with beauty and really off, jarring melodies with brilliant pop friendly ones. It's positively stunning.

I only own Naveed and Clumsy. I especially like Naveed. They never seemed to get the same level of energy back in my humble opinion after Naveed.

Not that many of the tracks in this thread are "bad". :grinthumb

Hey ladies and gents. The date for Our Lady Peace's next album, "Curve", was just announced for April 3rd. After being rather unimpressed with "Burn Burn" I'm a somewhat unsure about how this album will turn out. According to Raine though this album is supposedly going to step away from the more commercial sound the band has had since "Gravity" and go in a more experimental direction like "Spiritual Machines" did.

Here's the album cover and the lead single, "Heavyweight"....

New single from "Curve"...

It's a bit too indie and not enough alternative for my liking for OLP but it's not at all a bad song.

I've been slacking on my Our Lady Peace albums Cosmic! Aside from Naveed I had every album including the greatest hits, Live and Raines solo. I missed out on Healthy In Paranoid Times and Burn Burn mostly just because they slipped off my radar. My thing is I LOVE the Gravity album track by track. To me that's when they peaked as I appreciate Raines voice but it gets annoying after a while if it's not reigned in a little. Seriously, the hooks on Gravity were perfect, it had the right level of pop rock heaviness and it had the perfect mix of songs. I first got into them with your favorite Spiritual Machines but that album outside of "Life" was too weird for me. :D I could never get it. After hearing the two songs you posted I'm kind of anticipating this one. It sounds like a compromise between the two types of OLP, the weird eccentric one and the pop, hooky mainstream one. Out of the two tracks you posted I definitely prefer Heavyweight. I looked at I-tunes and previewed the one with the most action which is a track called "If This Is It". I really liked it but can only find a demo of it to post:

If This Is It (Demo)

I think you might be forgetting about "Are You Sad?" from "Spiritual Machines", Sooty because there is nothing weird about that track at all. ;)

For me, "Gravity" isn't weird enough though (we've had this conversation a million times though). I will say that "Not Enough" is my favorite on that album though...

And I really do like "If This Is It". That has urged me to buy this album more than either of the singles. :grinthumb

I picked up Clumsy from a record shop bargain bin in the 90's on the strength
of the Cover and have loved them ever since
