^^I offer as proof of Bose's ridiculous business practices their ridiculous "Bose Wave Radio". For $200.00 it might be a decent little clock radio/cd player but I almost fell out of my chair when I saw how much they sell those pieces of crap for.:nw:

I am the same Berserker, I prefer to listen to them myself and everyone has a different "ear", what sounds good to me might not to someone else.

However...there are some Great online companies now, Axiom, Aperion, Ascend, SVS that offer quality speakers at a fantastic price because you are not paying any mark up at the retail level. You have 30 days to decide if you like what you bought or pay the shipping costs to send them back for a full refund.

I have just ordered some gear for the first time in my life because the value is just amazing, to get the same quality from my local store would cost me almost twice as much.

Guess I am out of my element but I have a Bose wave radio and it is awesome, loud enough to kill a yak from 15 miles away.

One thing you guys might like if you are audiophiles using a pc, turn the pre-amp setting (if the program you are listening with has graphic equalizer) to 11, it will make your volume much louder across the board. For some reason 12 is too much and 10 isn't enough.

"Why does your amp go up to 11?"
"Well, we had one that went to 10 but 11 is one louder"

^^Those are simply way overpriced for what you are getting.:nw: I think of what I could buy with that money and it's astonishing to me that anyone would actually spend that for a new one.

No I don't use the PC very often for music Berserker...I've been collecting gear for 30+ years now. I do have a nice external soundcard now though, for listening to my 24/96 rips, one of these days I'll connect it to my Reference system and put it through it's paces. I know I am lucky because I'm in a house and can really do whatever I want, unlike many others who live with their parents or in an apartment.

I like listening to music in headphones..you get every nuance and can really immerse yourself into the "musical journey". Bose headphones at home when I'm in one place but I just got a pair of earbuds for when I'm having to be mobile. Got the Ink'd brand but they're pretty good. Fit me better than any of the others I've had.

I have an old school 80's 185 watt amp and four 3 foot tall cabinet speakers from Pioneer. Still kicks ass. It's got more balls than these modern Walmart stereos with Rubic's Cube sized speakers. I've bought those and yet I still go back to the ol' power blaster.
The last couple years I've been listening to vinyl about 85% of the time when I'm home. CD's in the car and in the backyard, and MP3 players at work and everywhere else that a CD player is not within reach.

I tried that setting with the Winamp equalizer and it made a big difference, thanks.

That reminds me of this:

Depends which room I'm in - living room has my 22 year old stereo system (with record player) set up and our bedroom has a modern compact system, both give great sound. In the kitchen we have a portable CD player, which isn't so good sound-wise but it's fine for when I'm cooking. When I'm doing housework like vacuuming I like to pop on the headphones & listen to my MP3 player.

I don't have surround, quadrophonic, 5.1 or home cinema. I wouldn't mind them if you can connect everything (hi-fi, TV and computer) and make it all work.
