I was a bit surprised and confused by the friend request thing myself initially. I thought, ok, what’s this facebook like thing on the forum and is it a big deal or not to use it?
I pretty much have stuck with being an old school type forum user. Either I post my piece right on the forum or if a question/comment comes up that I feel I need to take off the forum and address to a specific person (as I understand the forum rules/guidelines) then I send a PM. The “visitor messages” are still like a sort of gray area I don’t quite “get”
I don’t mind receiving the friend requests. I guess there’s that part of me which likes being acknowledged and it does feel like a nice friendly gesture. Thing is, I personally don’t actually do too much with it and occasionally I’m thinking in back of my mind, ok, is anyone offended that I don’ reciprocate or interact in a big way with this friend thing? Because really I’m not intentionally trying to offend anyone … again it’s a matter of me simply not utilizing the “friend” bit on the forum.
