Most sound heavy but there are some with some acoustic flavors as well. I've seen them 15 times and the last time around they were at their peak musically. Based on what I've heard this record might put them over the top. They deserve all the accolades they get. Really cool guys who make great music. Not on par with Iggy Pop and some of the other "Hall Of Famers" though, lol.

^^Can't stand Iggy Pop myself...totally overrated I'd say Rush puts him and the Stooges in the shade without breaking a sweat.:D

My buddy said that maybe Geddy should cut himself with some broken glass on the next tour every night and that should get them in. Gold and platinum records and a 40 year career just doesn't cut it.

I couldn't resist listening to all the songs off this record on youtube when I saw them there. I have to say this is their best record since Moving Pictures/Permanent Waves in my opinion. Normally, it takes several listens to come to any conclusion. Not this time. Wow!

I listened to the album for the first time and was not impressed at all. For the first time in Rush's career Geddy's vocals annoyed me.

For over a week this cd is in my car, my iphone and in my stereoplayer at home.
It's the best Rush cd since a long time.
Strong songs, great changes and Lee plays much more leadguitar than on the last couple of Rush cds.

But true on some tracks Geddy's voice annoys me.

I listened to the whole cd yesterday and am giving it another whirl right now. The only thing I personally don't care for is the vocal effects that sound like a megaphone or something. Other than that, it suits my taste. The bass playing and drumming chops on this record are stunning. Neil and Geddy are absolutely playing better than they ever have in my opinion. This is Geddy Lee's crowning moment so far on bass.. Alex is Alex. SO tasty and underrated. There are several moments that are as good as anything they've ever written. I'll be the first to admit I'm a "homer" when it comes to Rush. I'm also objective enough to know this record kicks ass. There's half a dozen or more tunes off here that will blow up live. November 3rd will bere here soon enough. However, I would never trade tomorrow for today.
