For all you Poco fans.................

They are working on a new album (which I believe will be titled "All Fired Up") to be released sometime this year (2012)

Rusty Young giving a taste of a new song "Roses and Regrets"

I am not sure, Eberg. Their website gives a lineup list from 2010, and I am assuming it will be:

Jack Sundrud -
Rusty Young -
Mike Webb -
George Lawrence -

In the website store they are selling an image of "current lineup" which is the above listed members.

MP, yeah one of the best 'country rock/soft rock' bands out of California in the 70's, they actually got there just ahead of the Eagles and they made some great albums, I have three I think - Head Over Heels, Rose of Cimarron, and Crazy Eyes.

Timothy B Schmidt of the Eagles was with them before he joined the Eagles.

I think 'Rose of Cimarron' would probably be my favourite Poco song, one of those truly great infectious summer songs that sound amazing on the car radio/CD player on a hot day with the roof wide open - as a kid in England I recall the great John Peel on BBC Radio 1 used to play 'RoC' all the time and he was a huge fan of Poco, which I always thought was a bit odd as most of the other stuff he loved back in those days was punk and new wave stuff, and a lot of reggae as I recall, but here it is...love this video too ...

Very good band,,,,had not seen this thread before, I have the first 7 lps with the live one.

Hard to believe no one has mentioned Illinois Speed Press where Paul Cotton was from before Poco....1968-1970 (Chicago area at first then went to LA) .
I liked them better than Poco as far as being heavier with bluesrock married to country but I'm not dissing Poco since they came from slightly different angles. I even liked them better than Eagles. Cotton and David a had a twin guitar attack going in the band with excellent songwriting. Sadly only two lps....but both are a must have imho.
Eagles first lp was 1972....and I read that Speed Press and other bands played at The Troubador in LA and that Henley and Frey watched them many times there. Some of Eagles music reminds me of Speed Press and I feel they 'borrowed' ideas from them. Sadly Speed Press never caught a break and broke up but are still 2 of my favorite lps.
Here are a few tracks from them....Bad Weather is Speed Press version and Cotton did it with Poco on From The Inside.

FRom the first
Illinois Speed Press - Free Ride
Illinois Speed Press - P.N.S.
From the second
Illinois Speed Press - Morning Blues
Illinois Speed Press - Bad Weather

Excellent @dr wu . Illinois Speed Press is news to me, and very cool. I can say from the videos posted they do sound like hard rock meets country blues. It’s strange how the record labels either “made” or “broke“ the bands back in the day. I am going to see if I can find both albums.

The history of Illinois Speed Press is on Wiki. Sadly, both Paul Cotton & Kal David have passed.
