Cannons Ahoy
The Great Pretender
What do you think is the heaviest song ever? Not limited to heavy metal songs.
To be heavy the song doesn't have to have distorted guitars, light speed riffs or
growling vocals. The heaviness is also delivered by musical weight, how dark the
theme and the overall atmosphere is and the "vibe" of the music.
Personally at this moment I think Diamond Head's Am I Evil? is the heaviest
song (Metallica agrees with me).
Listen to that opening riff and how it's played at just the right tempo to
maintain the heaviness. The vocals are clean but actually I think the contrast
actually serves to make the song even heavier. The dark lyrics add to that.
Finally, check out the ******** solo heard towards the end.
