I wouldn't waste my time. Asking him "why" would be futile because no reason he came up with could ever justify his horrific act.

my thoughts exactly Bob.....and I know it wouldn't do any good, but in the name of the Beatles and rock'n'roll, I'd probably give him a beating just for some jollies

His name should never be spoken.

This.

If I was in a room with him, I would just get up and leave. I wouldn't say anything, I wouldn't do anything, I would just leave. I wouldn't even try to kill him because he's unworthy of the privilege of death

I don't know why people are acting like he's the living, breathing version of Satan. He's just like any other person who ever killed someone in my opinion. I never got why people put John Lennon up on this pedestal and acted like his murder was the worst thing to ever happen in history. I get he was important though, inspirational.

And yes the Yoko comment is funny stuff! :grinthumb

I agree completely. While I have no love for him, I don't despise him worse than anyone walking the earth right now as some people seemingly have over the years.

I dunno about "important". Inspirational? Yes. Entertaining? Sure. Important? Meh, that to me is part of the putting him on a pedistal. I don't think any musician, actor, sports figure, etc is "important" and I've long thought that people who have this mentality about their favorite people in those areas are viewing these stars through tinted goggles.

But for the rest of what you said, I 100% agree. I also never understood the terminology used when he was murdered, calling his murder an "assassination". World leaders, religious leaders, certain political figureheads, maybe.. but otherwise, I don't deem entertainers as being candidates for that term. JM2CW. Lennon was HARDLY a saint and even though I like a lot of what he did in the Beatles and in his solo career, as a person he had a slew of character flaws and I simply look at him as an entertainer that was unlawfully taken from his family and his fans.

*shrug*

He is on a pedestal because he fought for what he believed in at a time when he was being deported from USA. For his words! He is damn important! He is from England and fought for the rights of Americans, to speak out against the draft and Nixon.

As for chapman, I would nail his ******* to the floor and set the prison on fire and leave him with a sharp knife. Fate worse than death :oy:

Ok, I get that angle, but with that in mind, what makes him any more important than millions of other people who were outspoke about the draft and the US President?

He said it into the microphone, most people don't have the whole world listening to them.

That doesn't make him any more important than anyone else that had the exact same views, it simply means that he could use his celebrity status to spout off his views (as many other celebs have done over the years). Again, it's just my opinion, but I don't think that the media shoving cameras in the faces of celebs makes them "important".
