I do think it is interesting they put Enter Sandman on there though, since we have discussed before what time periods constitute "classic". I see the definition is indeed changing.

It's also great they included only one song per artist, because how many of those songs would have been the Beatles otherwise?

I think that Sandman is listed (and this is tied in to the bold part) because of the fact that there is only one song per artist and in my opinion, a lot of the songs really are (or could be) considered to be "defining moments" for the artists on the list.

Maybe not necessarily the A-#1 greatest song, because as we know, that can be incredibly subjective, but rather that the songs listed really can almost define either the pinnacle of many of those artist's careers or are just so universally loved by the masses.

*shrug* Just a thought.

You know I am loving Aerosmith at the #1 spot.........and Led Zeppelin at #2. Didn't expect to see those 2 particular songs as the top song of all time though.

For AC/DC I would have thought Highway to Hell as their defining/best song :dunno:

No "Stairway..." Denied.

These things are down to opinion but it's not a very good list i don't think.
It's very MOR. Does anybody seriously think "don't stop believing" is better than "Layla"?
No prime era Genesis but Phil Collins solo makes the list. Fail.:pullhair:

These lists are always great fodder for debate.

Not bothered by lists like these, in the end it is the opinion of some. Living After Midnight and Enter Sandman, I noticed its the most commercial material of bands like Judas Priest and Metallica that would get picked.
As said not bothered by what they picked, I am glad they didn't pick the over rated Black Dog. Kashmir for me is far more enjoyable.

Well....I do so that's at least one person.

And I think they were trying to avoid picking the #1 obvious choices for the sake of being different....but not really.

My top 10 of those songs (not in order)
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama
ZZ Top - La Grange
The Eagles - Hotel California
Bob Seger - Turn the Page
Metallica - Enter Sandman
The Allman Brothers Band - Ramblin’ Man
Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble - Pride And Joy
The Marshall Tucker Band - Can’t You See
.38 Special - Hold On Loosely
Molly Hatchet - Flirtin' With Disaster

Now does Metallica really fit the term "Classic Rock"?
