We all have artist that are under the radar and we think should be elevated or that everyone should here! This thread isn't about that! This is about the artist that you seem to have a synergy with that not only never found an audience but you haven't even found someone who partakes in the liking of that artist. Your playing them just gets an awkwardness or dead silence! Maybe they are really weird or just aren't accessible to anyone else but you (that you know of)! If so I say "Good for you!" and I hope that you liking them is good enough! I want to know this artist and why YOU like them! I'll give you my example:

I bought a compilation called "The Old, The New, The Undecided" which was a compilation for a label called Undecided records. I picked it up at Wally World because it had a really cheap price tag of 5 bucks and I was hoping to discover a new band. I didn't find a band but I found an artist. After a long list of blah punk bands I found an out of place dramatic piano ballad on there called "Warm Black Shadows"! The guys had a deeper tone of voice then I've heard and sang with an intimacy towards the piece that I really dug. I looked everywhere for it but since it wasn't major label I had to check all my options. I finally saw it at a borders:

The cover struck me as both eccentric and personal. I bought it and what I found was some of the most intimate songs I ever heard. That's why I think it never connected with anyone else because Scott connects so much it's almost as if you feel you should leave him alone and give him space. It would come off as indulgent if it wasn't so raw and real. I read up on him afterward and this album was a tribute to his twin brother who had died. It's no wonder why it was so personal! My friends either were like what the hell is this and my usually open minded friend thought it was corny in parts. I kind of understand his sentiments. In parts of it musically it has some potentially corny parts but if you connect to it as a whole then it's the ultimate catharsis! O.K., that's my example! What's yours?

I feel like I'm the only guy who likes the one and only (I think) album David Hemmings had called "Happens". Somebody else must like it surely? Anyone? Hello? :tws:

I love the picture CP/M! I've never even heard about David Hemmings but I guarantee no one knows my pick either but that's why this thread is here! :grinthumb I don't know if David Hemmings would be liked upon first listen either but if he is you've got the advantage over my pick because I know he's not for most people to listen to! :lmao:

I live in Buffalo, NY
One of the longest band names: Paul Pope Robbie Rist & the Tower of Light Beer Rythm Section released one album called 'Here' in the mid 80's. Robbie Rist is Cousin Oliver from the Brady Bunch. I've been a fan of Paul Pope since the 70's when he was with a progressive/classic rock/theatrical band called Molkie Cole & released one album on Janus Records. By 1980 Molkie Cole split up but Pope kept on going & he's had a revolving door for bands. He's from Cleveland & would usually play Buffalo 4 times every couple months throughout the 80's. His first solo band in 1980-81 featured Tom Kriss who played bass in the James Gang from '66-'69 & Billy Sullivan on guitar.Sullivan is a phenominal guitarist & has always been Pope's guitarist except for the Robbie Rist era stuff. Sullivan is currently playing guitar for Peter Noone in Herman's Hermits & also is constantly playing with Eric Carmen & the Raspberries & Gary Lewis & the Playboys. Pope has always been theatrical onstage & is a great songwriter. However, the video I'm posting is from the Robbie Rist era. They really worked well together & always put on great shows but this video is really 80's cheese at it's worst:

Egg, the Polite Force. An obscure prog/rock band from England the debut album is really accessible and I have Burned a permanent copy, The Polite Force makes you sit up right away and think...is there something wrong with the CD?...lol.

I have kept it on my HD, and might eventually burn a CD-R but for now I am playing it once a week to see if it grows on me, like some other great albums have done in the past. So I do like it, and am positive almost no one else has even heard of them let alone knows enough about them to dislike them.

Crying Tears by Cuby + The Blizzards

I am the only one now but not for long. The song is so obscure whoever posted it on Youtube called them the Buzzards instead of Blizzards. My favorite Blues song of all time.

Root Boy Slim & his Sex Change Band is a band I never see mentioned although I know he has his fans. Rootboy passed away in the 90's.

Here's Root Boy Slim's "Boogie til You Puke"(There's a boring 2 minute intro)

RT-

I can see why Root Boy Slim is an acquired taste but I thought it was a blast to watch! I love how obnoxious he is!

With Paul Pope Robbie Rist & the Tower of Light Beer Rhythm Section I thought the song was legit but perhaps it was the main guys hair that killed them :lmao: or the lack of stability as you listed! Either way thanks for the cool write ups of these guys and the songs!
