^^^^ Motown songs are my speciality :D I'm thinking along the lines of I Second That Emotion - Smokey Robinson :heheh: Me and Sunny are stars at that one but she's not here so I'll be going solo tonight.

Awesome! I dig Motown! :D Too bad Sunny wasn't back to join you! You'll have to rope someone else in! :)

I went karaoke-ing in a big group in Sydney in January. I got bored pretty quickly of everyone picking the "flavour of the month" pop songs, or Disney songs. They're alright, but it could be so much more.

So I picked 2 songs over the night to sing - "With a Little Help With My Friends" by the Beatles, which apparently I aced, although the track was pretty woeful (was a cover by someone with no musical talent. And none of the other people knew the song. Disappointing). And then I did Footloose, which is always my party song at these things.

Karaoke is good, but you need to share musical tastes with the others there, methinks

Dude, you make a great point on how some karaoke mixes are horrible chopping up songs, leaving parts out, changing arrangements. It can really throw you off. As far as music taste I'm not so sure of that. It doesn't bother me what people sings as long as they are having fun with it. Then again if the overall crowd sings primarily country and the same old classic rock songs which is inevitable in my hick area then it can get to be a pain. :heheh:
