I read once those horns you hear at the start of Runnin' are actually the horns from the band member's cars. They apparently, went out to the parking lot and all 4 just laid on the horns and recorded it.

I forget where I read that it was so long ago, but I think it was an interview with Eddie.

^^I'd always wondered about that Vehicle...but didn't know that's where they got that unique sound effect from and it does sound like car horns now that you mention it.:grinthumb

You know, now that I think about it, I'm almost sure it was Eddie, because he also said the scratching sound in The Cradle Will Rock is him sliding a Heineken bottle down the neck of his guitar.

Surprisingly, I'm giving my vote to Best of Both Worlds. Love both tracks here, but BoBW has a little special place in my heart due to where I was in life when I first heard it.

Also, BoBW is also the single track off of 5150 that made me give "Van Hagar" a chance. Prior to that, I was not happy with that album or the change in the band at all.

I really like both tunes, but it's really hard to vote against anything off of that debut VH album it's a classic through & through. so Runnin' With The Devil gets my vote.

It was all in good fun, thanks! :cheers2

Objectively I kinda get it about Runnin' With The Devil. :)

As I sort of mentioned elsewhere for some reason the first VH album generally made me go  after a point and the early Van Hagar stuff made me go :D

I didn't need a hard sell for Van Hagar in the first place but after hearing BOBW as the first single (if I recall correctly) that sold me on them.

Who knows maybe after 30-some years I can give the first VH in its entirety another spin and not go :pullhair: I'm not even sure I have a copy at the moment ... I have some other VH on vinyl besides the cassettes - both DLR and Sammy versions.
