Re: Asia

I almost forgot about this group, and yes I did like them. I liked their late 1980's stuff alot which seemed to be more towards progressive rock.

This album has a collection of Asia songs, some of them were remakes of older songs. I really liked this album and have it in my collection. (time to dig it out) :D

Re: Asia

I was kind of disappointed by Asia, I expected much more from the debut when I bought it on vinyl. Heat of the Moment would be my favorite song, but I felt they never really achieved their potential, maybe Too much talent in the group.

Re: Asia

I saw them in 2008 with all of the original members, and they were quite good, better than they were when I saw them in the 80s. The new CD is good too. Peace and goodwill.

Didn't even know they were still touring and releasing new material...guess I'll have to sniff around and see if I can get a copy.

Re: Asia

Be careful if you do. As of 2008, there are two distinct groups using the Asia name: a reunion of the band's original line-up performing as Asia, and Asia Featuring John Payne featuring three members from later incarnations of Asia.

I love Asia's music. Especially "Sole Survivor", "My Own Time" and "Midnight Sun".

Re: Asia

i pretty much agree with LG. i expected more. on paper Asia sounded like it would be a great group but in reality they were just an average band

Re: Asia

One complaint I did have about the debut album was the production value was Not up to standard. It sounded Hollow compared to many of the other records that all the members recorded with their other bands previously, in some cases over 10 years earlier. I was truly disappointed by that too.

But I do have their compilation CD and I play it once in a while.
