^ Hendrix was one of the best guitarists in the world, it's sad that drugs interfered with his life. Drugs have taken away many fantastic musicians, unfortunately.

Jimi liked WILD THING he thought it was a 'groovy song' also it let him 'show off' his guitar gimmicks to an audience such as playing the guitar behind his head and with his teeth and to also demonstrate the use of 'controlled' feed-back, usually this song was played at the end of his set.
Other cover songs/tunes that the 'Experience' played around late 1968 and early 1969 was an instrumental called TAX FREE written by two Swedish guy's called Hanson & Karlson (i believe that was there names?) and the Cream song SUNSHINE OF YOUR LOVE. On TAX FREE Jimi liked the tune and all the Experience liked playing SUNSHINE OF YOUR LOVE.
I just think Jimi was a natural musician almost a savant with an axe.
Alot of trained musicians have to continue practicing on a daily basis otherwise they have a tendency to grow rusty and less effective?
Jimi was different and lightyears ahead of his time IMO.
His vocals were not the best but then again who could replicate the whole sound and vibe Jimi produced when he married the two together?
No one.
Jimi was not from another planet he was just unique on this one.
Carlos Santana for me is every bit as special on the axe but they are worlds apart on their approach but they are both magical none the less.
I love Hendrix he is raw and totally emotional and for me his style of play is from the soul.
Voodo Child is for me the sexiest intro ever written or played by a guitar man and I don't mean that in a Fudge Packer sense....
