RiffRaff, that's a cool idea but I'm kinda dissapointed and a bit irritated that the original idea was washed down the drain by some people.

I think its a shame the idea didn't get more participants, I definitely would have but as I said I likely would have put some death metal in there and I can only think of one or 2 people who would listen to it without chucking it in the trash.

But see, thats the whole thing, how would we know without hearing it? There is a lot of suppostion that goes on in this forum.
Edit to add: And that has a lot to do with my waning intrest.

This is one of the main reasons why I didn't go in for this. Mine would have had a fair bit of death metal on too, and with many people being very open about their feelings on death metal and growling vocals, it just would have been an all-round disappointment
And of those of us who do enjoy this genre, a few seem to have disappeared from the forum altogether recently, leaving even fewer of us here again Well, I may have found something I like in the death metal sampler.
I can see your point, as I too have seen the comments regarding the growling vocals, et. al.
It just seems self-defeating to not even try. Who knows, maybe I would have been converted by a song! Guess I won't know, lol.

I know far too many people, both online and in real life, who will dismiss it as complete and utter shit after literally only 2 or 3 seconds. I will always respect someone who is willing to listen to at least one song in full before realising they don't like it, and anyone who is willing to try out of sheer curiosity.
