Just heard via Facebook that Australian record produced, music critic and journalist, and host of the popular Australian music show Countdown, Ian "Molly" Meldrum has been placed in a coma after falling off his ladder.

For those of you who don't know of Meldrum, he was (and hopefully still is) a very popular figure in the music industry. His show, Countdown, launched the careers of many bands in the 70's and 80's, including AC/DC, the Skyhooks, INXS and Men At Work, as well as Meldrum's antics (this was back in the day when drinking was allowed on set. And Meldrum was one helluva drinker).
I hope he recovers well, he's a colourful and integral part of Australia's music scene
