Glad to hear that you like hear, Phil. :D

My friend Asher (who lives in Chicago and I only get to see maybe twice a year) is coming into town on the 19th to visit for 5 days AND it just so happens that on the 20th Trampled By Turtles is coming to Cleveland. What stupendous timing! I'm minutes away from ordering our tickets. :D

EDIT: It's official. We're going. :cheering

I've been a fan of TbT for a few years. If I recall correctly I think I first heard about them through CDBaby. My favorite album is probably "Blue Sky and the Devil."

They also win in my book for having one of the best song titles around - "My Brother Works for the CIA When He's Not Doing Time."

I'll need to check out that song, Craig. The title alone has me interested. :heheh:

I saw them this past Sunday but haven't gotten the chance to post about it until now and to put it simply, they put on one of the BEST shows I've ever seen. It was the last show of their tour and it was quite special. The crowd was very varied with everyone from hippie to hipsters to good ol' blue collar boys. During the slower songs people were slow dancing and during the faster songs they were headbanging and pogoing. The musicianship was top notch and the solos from the violin, banjo, AND mandolin were explosive and hearing them on the albums doesn't do them the proper justice that seeing them live provides. Plus they put on an hour and half show PLUS a half our encore (which included a couple Bob Dylan covers among other songs), and this was following up the hour long set that the opener Johnny Corndawg (which really surprised me because with a name like that I had low expectations). Also between their two sets Johnny Corndawg and Trampled By Turtles came on stage as Cornholed By Turndogs and performed "Eastbound and Down", which I really liked. If anyone ever has the opportunity I fully recommend seeing TBT live. :grinthumb

Actually WAIT SO LONG sounds like Blink 182 doing Blue Grass :heheh:

I don't quite hear the Blink-182 comparison but a fellow Minnesota band that's close to blink did cover it, Motion City Soundtrack...

I think this cover is poo poo compared to the original.

Trampled By Turtles sounds so fresh to me and that cover sounds too much exactly like too many other songs.

I introduced my brother in law to this band over the Thanksgiving holiday, and he loved it.

He is steeped in bluegrass, and can play the mandolin, the dobro, hammered dulcimer, ukulele, and guitar. He is currentley learning how to play the banjo. He was quite impressed. :grinthumb
